What is NOVA SYSTEMS USA?

Your trusted partner for sustainable home energy solutions. Specializing in Mass Save® programs, HVAC, Solar, Roofing, and Battery Storage.

A heat pump is an all-in-one heating and cooling system that's 3-4x more efficient than traditional furnaces and AC units. It works by moving heat rather than generating it, using electricity to transfer warmth from outside air into your home in winter, and removing heat in summer.

Do heat pumps work in cold Massachusetts winters?

Yes! Modern cold-climate heat pumps work efficiently even when temperatures drop below 0°F. We install systems specifically designed for New England weather that provide reliable heating all winter long.

How much can I save with a heat pump?

Most customers save 30-50% on heating and cooling costs. With Mass Save® rebates up to $10,000, the system often pays for itself in 5-7 years through energy savings.

Can I keep my existing heating system?

Yes! We can install a hybrid system that combines your existing furnace with a new heat pump. The system automatically switches between them based on outdoor temperature for optimal efficiency and comfort.

How long do heat pumps last?

Quality heat pumps typically last 15-20 years with proper maintenance. We offer maintenance plans to keep your system running efficiently.

What's the difference between ductless and ducted heat pumps?

Ductless (mini-split) systems don't require ductwork and allow room-by-room temperature control. They're ideal for older homes without ducts. Ducted systems use existing ductwork and provide whole-home heating/cooling. We'll recommend the best option for your home.

Will a heat pump lower my electricity bill or raise it?

While heat pumps run on electricity, they're so efficient that most customers see overall energy cost reductions of 30-50%, especially if replacing oil, propane, or electric resistance heating.

Are heat pumps noisy?

Modern heat pumps are very quiet. Indoor units produce about 25-40 decibels (quieter than a refrigerator). Outdoor units are comparable to or quieter than traditional AC condensers.

Can heat pumps provide hot water too?

Regular heat pumps don't provide hot water, but heat pump water heaters are available as a separate unit. These are also eligible for Mass Save® rebates and can save 50-60% on water heating costs.

What size heat pump do I need?

This depends on your home's size, insulation, and heating/cooling needs. We perform detailed load calculations during our assessment to properly size your system for maximum efficiency and comfort.

Do I need to upgrade my electrical panel?

Sometimes. Heat pumps require dedicated circuits. If your current panel is near capacity or outdated, an upgrade may be needed. We assess this during our consultation and can coordinate electrical work.

What maintenance does a heat pump require?

Regular filter cleaning/replacement (monthly), annual professional tune-ups, and keeping the outdoor unit clear of debris. We offer comprehensive maintenance plans to handle everything for you.

Can I install a heat pump myself?

No. Heat pump installation requires licensed HVAC technicians for refrigerant handling, electrical connections, and proper sizing. DIY installation voids warranties and can be dangerous.

What are the Mass Save® rebates for heat pumps?

Mass Save® offers rebates up to $10,000 for whole-home heat pump installations, plus additional incentives for heat pump water heaters and weatherization. Income-eligible customers may qualify for even higher rebates.

How quickly can you install a heat pump?

Installation typically takes 1-3 days depending on system type and complexity. From consultation to completion, the process usually takes 4-8 weeks including permitting and utility rebate processing.
